Proposed Bylaw Modifications Dear Church Family, Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. We pray that this letter finds you both blessed and being a blessing for our Lord. Can you believe that it has been a year since our family (the Moodys) joined the First Baptist family? What an amazing year it has been as we have explored and displayed the majestic beauty of God together. Wendi and I have been highly appreciative of how the church has embraced us and followed us in our leadership. First Baptist now feels like home to all five of us. Thanks for all you have done to make our connection to the Firs Baptist family a reality. Together we have seen the borders of God’s Kingdom expanded in many ways this past year as our church has sought to embrace the movement of God’s Spirit to become a 21st-century church of simplicity and relevance. God has faithfully led us down a road toward providing environments whereby God’s Spirit can connect people to God, others, and the World. In order to complete some of these transitions toward a more simple-church mentality, the leadership of First Baptist feels it is necessary to make some changes to the church bylaws. The purpose of church organization is to furnish the best workable structure that will help the church follow the leadership of Christ and will facilitate the most effective implementation of the church's ministries. Attached to this letter you will find the proposed amendments to our church bylaws, which have been presented/discussed on four different occasions with our church family (staff meeting, church council meeting, deacon’s meetings, and a quarterly business meeting). One of these three attached versions of the bylaws shows the proposed deletions in strikeout type and the proposed changes in bold italic type. To amend our church by-laws, two-thirds of the voting membership (which has to be at least 75 members) must approve the changes. We would like to conduct a vote at a special-called business meeting at the end of the November 30th worship service (the 10:50 am service). Please review and pray over the changes prior to that day. If you have any questions that were not answered during one of these sessions, please feel free to contact me or Mark Adams (executive pastor) at the church office. Thank you ahead of time for your prayerful consideration of these important changes.
