April First Kidz

Easter is my favorite time of the year. When I was younger, I loved sunrise services (yes, I am old and that was once a big deal!). Now I love the Community Easter Egg Hunt. For the last 15 years, I have spent the Saturday morning before Easter at Rogers Park. I love the worship music played in the park and the joy on the kids’ faces when they have a basket full of eggs. But, most of all, I love hearing the GOSPEL presented to our community.
Yesterday, I had the JOY of reconnecting with Sheriff Zena Stephens, our Jefferson County Sheriff. I taught her daughter about 18 years ago when I was a music teacher.  Zena is very supportive of our Community Egg Hunt. She, along with four other on-duty police officers, will join for this year’s hunt. They will be there to engage with our children and families, while maintaining safety.
I encourage you to come to the hunt, invite friends, and pause for a few minutes in the middle of Roger’s Park, and remember the reason for Easter – the GOSPEL reason. In addition to the egg hunt, we will have our first ever FAMILY Easter Service on Saturday evening. We will have Easter bags for the first 75 children. These bags have a few things to help the kids through the service. What a special time for children to worship with their families. Feel free to sit in service with your children, or if you need a little extra space, there will be tables in the commons area, and the service will be streamed there.

If the family service on Saturday night is not a fit for your family, there are three Sunday services with our regularly scheduled Children’s Ministry.  See you at the Easter service and egg hunt!
